We got in touch with Sathiya C who is helming the Sumedhas’ Website Development Project to know where we are, what has happened so far, what are we trying to achieve and how.
Right at the outset, Sathiya explains that the website development project can be split into seven stages: 1. RFP and selection process, 2. setting up the team and getting the project operations in place, 3. requirement gathering, 4. planning the layout of the website and prototyping, 5. feedback, 6. development stage, and 7. deployment and launch.
We are currently in the fourth stage.
The broad idea, so far, has been to involve as many stakeholders, fellows and interns as possible to gather what this community thinks the website requires. There are a bunch of things that the website development team is hoping to address—inclusivity, clarity of content, ease of accessing programmes, speaking a language that is understood by everyone without losing the essence and the richness of SAHC and more. The website development team endeavours to keep all these requirements at the back of their mind and emerge with the best possible result.
Objectives:
To update the website to fine-tune access management, outreach and engagement to enhance participation and in turn, create a robust and engaged community.
To be able to clearly speak to our myriad audiences and position our offerings in a palatable way without taking away the essence of the richness and the brilliance of SAHC
To clearly present all our offerings and make it easy for visitors to navigate their way through our programmes
To make the website more inclusive in terms of the wide audience we speak to—from 18-year-olds to seniors, from individuals to institutions to corporates, NGOs and more, from stakeholders to first-time visitors, people from different regions and backgrounds.
To make the website more interactive and enable both stakeholders and visitors to start a conversation.
The Team: From SAHC, the effort is being led by Sathiya C who is joined by Roop Sen, Veena Rohini (an independent consultant who has graciously agreed to lend her time), Vishal Shah and Mihika Jindal from Sumedhas. The agency that has been hired to build the website is called Xynes.
“I would like to tell whoever is reading this newsletter to keep sending opinions, views, ideas and feedback as and when we reach out to you. That way we can ensure that we are on the right track and it will help us validate the decisions we have made and catch the things we may have missed,” Sathiya concludes.
